Day Two Of Exercise

Poetry on Medium

This inertia of movement,

Unknown at the start,

Makes its presence felt,

Day two, on each body part.

.

As thigh muscles burn,

Hands refuse to stretch.

Even the core begins to whine

That it’s all too much.

.

As the scalp perspires,

Sweat fills the brows,

Stinging the eyes,

To pool at the tip of the nose.

.

The heart wants to give up

And the breath falters.

But the mind won’t let up

The only voice that matters.
