On Forgetfulness

A poem

A bad memory can be a blessing-
Reading a book can be a joy
Even for the seventh time.

-

All slights, big and small,
From family, friend, or foe,
Lost in the maze of memory.

-

How else can I justify
This blind, unwavering faith
As you break my heart again.
