The Need For Space

--

Poetry On Medium

I need space!

— A thought I thought secure

In the brain’s deepest crevice

Bursts forth as words.

.

Silence prevails.

As the mind turns blank

And the heart gallops,

Eyes shut tight.

.

A deep breath first.

I force my eyes open

To look around

And seek a response.

.

Their genes speak

Through identical expressions —

Of incomprehension,

Tinged with hurt.

.

Mutely, they comply.

At last, there’s peace —

Not pure and white,

But sullied with guilt.
